Welcome to African Mothers Foundation International
African Mothers Foundation International (AMFI) is a woman led organisation linking communities in Wales and Zimbabwe the voice of the voiceless, to help end global poverty by educating girls.
As gender activist our interest are challenging gender disparity by helping girls come up to standard with life’s trends and expectations by challenging cultural practices and norms that relegate them to poverty, sexual abuse and nothingness.
Today in Zimbabwe, thousands of children are growing up without the chance to “be children” – they are not fed, cared for, or guided because they are busy caring for HIV-affected parents or coping with a parent’s death.
These girls are at high risk for physical abuse, child labour, sexual exploitation, trauma, and contracting HIV. They are also more likely to drop out of school and less likely to access health care, social support, or legal protection. Many schools are in great need of supplies, infrastructure, and staff to support these children especial girls.
This organisation was founded to create a foundation for advocacy to ensure that girls get the investment and recognition they deserve as powerful agents of change within their own families, communities and nations. We provide tools and resources to local communities in Zimbabwe to make a change in their lives through educating girls and empowering small scale farmers.
The other issue that our communities in Africa have is that most funding and programming is often erratic and fragmented despite best intentions. Measures of success are often determined by counting numbers of children enrolled in short-term relief programs rather than programs aimed at developing long-term, local solutions that strengthen existing services and networks.
We create change in four ways:
We Educate, We Motivate, We Inspire and WE CAMPAIGN
.
